And a second version of the same concept art.
The project is gonna be turning out quite nice I think.

A concept art image I made, well traced, from another picture, I just don't know where I got the image again. It's a concept for our possible male main characters.

Character design

This is a character design I wrote together with two classmates. They delivered the art and I wrote most of the stuff. We came up with the basic idea together and I worked it out. The english is quite bad, but I'm rather tired right now and should not be posting this now...

Enjoy!

-----------------------------

Steve drawn by Jaap Oomen

This is steve, steve is a creature also known as the prehistorical Plumbousaurus (The dinosaur that grows stupid), the Plumbousaurus is a peculiar beast, but I will elaborate on that later. The name steve is offcourse not a very plumbosaurian name, but cave paintings and clay tablets found with archaeological excavations showed that the cavemen have named one of them living near them, steve. We will be using this name from now on. Offcourse the Plumbousaurus has been extinct for years now. But recently there has been found cave paintings that show us the history of this creature. We will tell you their story. Their? Yes, their.

Lil Steve drawn by Abel Hagen

This is lil steve, lil steve is the child if steve. Notice me saying child and not daughter or son? That's because all Plumbousaurus are androginyous. For the remainder of the story I will refer to them as being male though. Just keep in mind that they are genderless. I will tell you more about lil steve later.

So back to steve. As you can see steve is very large, probably very heavy and he looks like he is a very lazy carnivourous creature. If you were thinkin this then you are completely correct. He is indeed lazy, fat, carnivourious and on top of that also very, VERY stupid. That's right, not a very likable creature indeed. Then why are we bothering talking about him? Simple, because they are Very. Peculiar. Creatures. You see, the Plumbousaurus has a few strange habits and racial features. For example, we already know that they are extremely stupid. However, what you dont know is that Steve has not always been very stupid. No, lil steve here is actually quite smart, VERY smart indeed. So with humans it is usually so that the parents feed the children, with the Plumbousaurus it's the other way around. As soon as a Plumbousaurus hatches from his egg it's smart, very smart and offcourse it loves it's parent. It happens sometimes that a Plumbousaurus child doesent love it's parent. To be short... the parent will die unless it eats the child before it can kill the parent in a very creative and probably painful way.

So lil steve usually spends his day taking care of steve. He hunts, or actually, he lures, prey. You have noticed the light at the end of their tails? With these lights they can lure other (also very stupid) dinosaurs towards heir cave (luckily dinosaurs tend to be very stupid). Lil steve usually goes out in the early morning and lures prey into their cave, the process of luring can take all day. I will elaborate on that later. How is it possible that the lil guy doesnt end up being eaten? Simple, the light at the end of his tail has a hypnotizing effect on the prey. Ans as long as they are not presented with difficult tasks (this will break the hypnotic effect) they will follow lil steve like a lamb follows its mother. Violent thoughts will simply not come to mind, making sure that the lil Plumbousaurus is actually quite safe as long as the prey doesent wake up. As soon as they arrive at the cave, the prey will walk inside following lil steve and steve will catch the prey and eat it. Lil steve enjoys the bits and pieces that Seve splurts around and so they sustain each other.

So why can the hunting process take all day? Well, firstly there is the choise of prey. Sometimes it can take a while for lil steve to find a good possible prey. Offcourse it's unwise to lure a “Verysharpteethosaurus” into your cave because they will enjoy a fast meal of Steves. ocasionally the prey will walk into the cave itself, but these are lucky breaks and they don't happen very often. And when he finally finds his desired prey there is the process of luring. The route that lil steve takes has to be one with the least amount possible obstacles. If there are any obstacles that might wake up the prey lil steve should get rid of them before he leads the prey through. One day a Plumbousaurus (not one of our Steves mind you) tried to lead a firosaurus through a pond of water. The beast snapped out of it's hypnotic state, became angry and that was the end of that lil guy and his parent. So you will see that it is actually very important to keep your prey stupid and drowsy and to make sure that they dont have to use their brain and start to realize that it's stupid to follow you. Lil steve has to make sure that the path they will follow is as smooth as possible and tehrefor he has to clear any obstacles out of the way before luring the prey in.

As we have seen, lil steve is the brain in the family, at least he is now. As lil steve grows and becomes a big Plumbousaurus he will gradually become more stupid. This is because their bodies grow so very large that their brains have trouble coordinating everything. And since it's easier to retain basic functions like eat, sleep, breathe and protect these are usually the functions remaining until he is too dumb to do anything at all, he will forget how to eat and thus die of starvation. (Or die of suffocation if he forgets how to breathe first) As soon as the parent dies the child will leave the cave and find his own where he can then produce a child that can hunt for him so he can get fat and dumb. Plumbousaurus can get one child a lifetime.

A swamp I'm drawing for Heimr at the moment, I traced a photograph for the perspective and the positioning of the tree. I hope to be able to draw something like this without tracing soon. But for now, I'm quite happy with how it turned out. This is a version one though, as you can see the swamp is not on fire yet and the lighting is off. I will be updating soon with a finished piece.
